As I related when signing your guestbook, these photos were taken 12/30/2006 and our old family farm in
Kentucky, where my younger brother now resides.
The family ownership dates back to a land grant from the then governor of what was then Virginia, and the
family, of course, were slave-owners. Both slaves and family members died on the property over the
centuries.
And, no, no one was smoking. *LOL*
The first photo and the last photo were taken immediately before and after the two middle ones, and the
second photo shows the ???? best. We tried several other photos, both inside and outside, but could not
capture any further images, though my brother says noises of feet tromping and rattles frequently come
from the second floor.
I am 66, and only vaguely recall ever seeing the last freed slave, whom the family called, simply, Old Dick,
and I believe he died when I would have been about 4 or 5, circa 1945, having been a baby at the end of the
Civil War.
